How do I pay my IDA membership fee?

You can sign up for automatic payment of your fees with Betalingsservice.

What is Betalingsservice?

Betalingsservice is an automatic payment service that allows you to sign up for automatic payment of your future bills and invoices.

That way you wont need to remember to pay each invoice, and you avoid reminders.

How do I register for Betalingsservice (PBS)?

You can register your bill or invoice with Betalingsservice the first time you pay it either via e-box or via your online bank.

Betalingsservice is not available in English for the time being, but you can view IDA’s guide to setting up your bills for automatic payment in Betalingsservice.

Please note that you must pay your invoice manually until it appears in the Betalingsservice summary that your bank sends you every month.

When do I have to pay the fee?

You must pay your IDA membership fee every three months. The payment is collected at the beginning of February, May, August and November.

Student membership of IDA is paid half-yearly, with payment in May and November.

Can I pay the membership fee once a year?

You can save 1.5% on your fee if you switch to annual payment.

If you want to pay annually, you must update your profile on My IDA.

Under Membership, click on 'Switch payment frequency'.

Please note that the change will apply from next January.

On the same page, you can change back to quarterly payment if you already pay annually.

Can I have my fee for IDA reduced if I am unemployed, on parental leave, posted abroad, on early retirement, on pension, on military service or a member of another trade union?

As a member of IDA, you can get a reduced fee when you

  • are unemployed
  • are on parental leave (during the parental leave benefit period)
  • are posted abroad
  • are employed on local terms abroad
  • retire / go on early retirement (efterløn)
  • are doing military service
  • are a member of another trade union that has bargaining rights for you

If you are doing military service or are a member of another trade union, you must write to us with the following information:

  • When does the change apply from - and possibly when to?
  • If you are a member of another trade union, you have to state which trade union it is.

In all other cases, you can get your fee reduced by updating your profile My IDA in the box 'My situation has changed'.

All membership fee changes are effective from the first February, May, August or November after you have updated your profile.

If you are unemployed, note that you must update your profile before the start of each quarter of the year in order to continue to adjust your membership fee.

I have changed my status to pay a reduced fee, why am I still being charged my "old" fee?

All fee changes are only effective from the next quarter (February, May, August or November) after you have updated your profile. Therefore, you may find that you are still charged for 'your old rate', even though you have reported the change.

I work temporarily in another Nordic country - can I keep my IDA membership?

IDA has entered into guest membership agreements with a number of foreign organisations. This means that you, as an IDA member, can get 3 years of free membership of an organisation in the country you work in, while you keep your membership with IDA.

You can become a guest member in one of these countries:

  • Sweden
  • Norway
  • Finland
  • Iceland
  • Faroe Islands
  • Germany
  • Spain
  • Australia

You retain your IDA membership and without extra payment you can get relevant services from the organisation in question.

Similarly, IDA can have guest members from the other Nordic countries.
