From 21 March to 7 April 2025, IDA members will elect the IDA Board of Representatives.
As a candidate, you must campaign on the issues that matter to you, either by running on an existing list or by creating a new one.
As list coordinator, you have a special task to ensure that all candidates are nominated correctly and that your list is visible to the voters.
IDA's graduate members must elect 61 candidates to the Board of Representatives. It is then the Board of Representatives that elects IDA's President and Executive Committee.
Preparations for the election start in autumn 2024 and end when voting closes on 7 April 2025.
A good election process is crucial for members to discover and become interested in IDA's member democracy.
The lists themselves are responsible for encouraging IDA members to vote for their list.
IDA's Election Committee is responsible for making sure that IDA members know that there are elections and when and how they can vote. The Election Committee and the Election Secretariat help all lists with general advice and guidance and ensure that there are common platforms to communicate from.
The Election Committee encourages lists to use these platforms to engage with each other and with members. Only then can we show members that IDA has an active member democracy and that it makes a difference which list members vote for.
Finally, the Election Committee urges everyone on the lists to work together to ensure a good tone.
On idavalg.dk, you can read about the different lists’ key issues and see which candidates have already been listed. If you want to contact a list before running, you can find their contact information on ida.dk (in Danish). Note: You cannot be a candidate and/or run for multiple lists at the same time.
How to request a place on a list: You will find the ‘Register” button on the homepage of idavalg.dk
Once your IDA-membership is validated, you can choose which list you want to run for. Note: You can only run in the IDA region where you have your affiliation, i.e., where you have your residence or alternatively your workplace.
Consent Declaration
You will be validated as a candidate with MitID, followed by your CPR number. Additionally, you must provide your phone number. This is only visible to the list’s coordinator and is not displayed on idavalg.dk.
To run in the IDA election, you must give three consents. It is not possible to run without giving these three consents. You can read more about the visibility of volunteers in IDA on ida.dk under ‘Find IDA’s frivillige’.
The consents are as follows:
Once you have given the three consents, the list coordinator will receive your request.
March 1, 2025 Deadline for potential change of regional affiliation
If you wish to change region to run in another region, you must contact the Election Secretariat at idavalg@ida.dk. The deadline for changing region is March 1, 2025. Note: Changing regions may affect any other positions of trust you have in IDA, such as elections to the Regional Council and/or regional departments. It is the candidate’s responsibility to be aware of this.
March 2, 2025 Deadline for running as a candidate
March 7, 2025 Deadline for withdrawing as a candidate
If you wish to withdraw from the list, you must write to idavalg@ida.dk and request to be deleted no later than March 7, 2025.
March 10, 2025 Deadline for editorial corrections in the candidate presentation (after this, editing is closed)
We recommend that you write a bit of free text about yourself. Write briefly and precisely. It is also a good idea to add a picture of yourself. Remember, it should be in good resolution. Under Image, click “Choose file,” then find a picture on your computer and select it. In the candidate presentation, you can choose to provide information about education, field of study, employment, and/or age. The information comes from IDA’s member database. It is optional whether you want to include this information in your presentation. If you do not select it, a field will not appear in your presentation.
Candidate for a political list
Once you are approved as a candidate on a list, the list coordinator will typically contact you to arrange further activities on the list.
IDA’s election committee has created a set of guidelines for how lists and candidates may market themselves during the election campaign. It is the list coordinator’s responsibility to inform you of these guidelines, so be sure to contact the list coordinator to find out what you can and cannot do during the campaign.
