The Algorithmic Theatre - online seminar

The Algorithmic Theatre - online seminar
How are algorithmic technologies affecting our bodies, lives and realities? We will discuss this from a technological, mathematical, critical and artistic point of view
During the current COVID-19 situation an increased use of algorithmic technologies are used to surveil and measure the public, and these technologies are legitimized and communicated as necessary tools to control the virus and safe lives. This poses questions on what can be translated into code and what the consequences of this increasing application of algorithmic technologies into our everyday lives mean

At this online seminar we will present research and perspectives on these questions from a technological, mathematical, critical and artistic point of view.

Presentations from:
  • “Trauma explained for robots” by Samara Sallam, visual artist, filmmaker, performer and coder
  • “Engineering Stupidity: the ridiculous limits of surveillance and self-tracking” by Miguel Sicart, Associate Professor, Head of Center, Digital Design, at The IT University of Copenhagen
  • All models are wrong, but some are useful - On the myth of an all-seeing algorithmic eye (What do "they" know about us, and who are "they"?)” by Irina Shklovski, Professor in Human-Centered Computing at The University of Copenhagen
  • “Worried, but optimistic: Data modelling of the spread of covid-19 in the population and its narratives” by Uffe Høgsbro Thygesen, Associate Professor at DTU Compute

The seminar is part of an artistic research project by Kristian Byskov and Kristian Husted, supported by The Danish Arts Foundation, developed in collaboration with Husets Teater and Ingeniørforeningen IDA
