In close collaboration with the research group of Connectivity from Aalborg University, IDA Connect offers this event on one of the emerging trends in telecommunication in 2021 – Open RAN.
The evolution of mobile network components from the first and second generations to the current fifth generation (5G), has so far been based on proprietary and vendor specific aggregated solutions. This has given mobile operators limited possibilities of choosing equipment from only one of the few major suppliers.
Open RAN is an initiative to disaggregate mobile base stations by standardizing open interoperable interfaces between the radio and signal processing elements.
The aim of Open RAN is to accelerate innovation and to lower cost by introducing multi-vendor interoperable products and solutions for several deployment scenarios without compromising the operator’s requirements.
But the criteria of success for scalable Open RAN migrations may be many as there are many stakeholders to have an impact of the success. In this event we have invited stakeholders representing operators, telecom policy makers, Open RAN vendors, major vendors, and academia to share their insights and forecasts.
