If you are employed at a university college, a business academy, a vocational school, a high school or the programme for diploma and export engineers, your salary and employment are regulated in a collective agreement. Find the collective agreement and salary level here.
If you are employed as a teacher at an educational institution, your terms of employment and your salary are partly regulated in your collective agreement.

Salary and conditions at university colleges and business academies
If you are employed as a teacher at a university college (professionshøjskole) or a business academy (erhvervsakademi), you will be covered by the academic agreement and the position structure for business academies, university colleges and Denmark's Media and Journalism College.
You will typically be employed as:
Assistant professor (Adjunkt)
- Employment period: 4 years. The period can be extended on application due to parental or adoption leave or long-term illness.
- Job content: Teaching, research and development activities and other tasks within the purpose of the institution.
- Salary: Basic salary in accordance with § 4 of the academic agreement and assistant professor's allowance of DKK 42,000 annually (level 31 March 2012). The current amounts can be seen in IDA's public salary tables. In addition, there is the possibility to agree on function supplements and/or qualification supplements.
Associate professor (Lektor)
- Admission requirements: Positive associate professor assessment.
- Job content: Teaching, research and development tasks, collaboration with relevant research environments and other tasks within the institution.
- Salary: Basic salary in accordance with § 4 of the academic agreement and associate professor's allowance of DKK 83,000. annually (level 31 March 2012). In addition, it is possible to agree on functional supplements and/or qualification supplements.
Part-time lecturer
- Working hours: Maximum 300 hours per year
- Hourly wage per working hour without preparation time: DKK 226.95 in basic amount (level 31 March 2012)
- Total hourly wage per lecture hour including 150 min. general preparation: DKK 571.20 in basic amount (level 31 March 2012).

Conditions on the programmes for diploma and export engineers
If you are employed as a teacher on the diploma engineering degree or the export engineering degree, you will be covered by the academic agreement and the position structure for the diploma engineering degree and the export engineering degree.
You will typically be employed as:
Assistant professor (Adjunkt)
- Entry requirements: Master's or engineering degree and 3 years' relevant work experience or PhD degree.
- Employment period: 3 years. The period can be extended due to parental or adoption leave or prolonged illness.
- Job content: Teaching, professional development and tasks (including development tasks) within the purpose of the institution.
- Salary: Basic salary in accordance with § 4 of the academic agreement and an assistant professor's allowance of DKK 43,900 annually (level 31 March 2012). In addition, it is possible to agree on functional supplements and/or qualification supplements. Associate professor (Lektor)
- Admission requirements: Positive associate professor assessment.
- Job content: Teaching, professional development, tasks (including development tasks) within the institution's purpose and supervision obligation.
- Salary: Basic salary in accordance with § 4 of the academic agreement as well as associate professor's allowance of DKK 79,800 annually (level 31 March 2012). In addition, it is possible to agree on functional supplements and/or qualification supplements.
- Working hours: You are covered by § 13 of the academic agreement, which sets your weekly working hours at an average of 37 hours incl. lunch break.
Part-time lecturer (Ekstern lector)
- Working hours: Maximum 500 hours per year. If it is necessary for the organization or implementation of the teaching, the number of working hours can amount to up to 780 hours annually.
- Hourly wage per working hours without preparation: DKK 226.95 in basic amount (level 31 March 2012. If it is necessary for the organization or implementation of the teaching, the number of working hours can amount to up to 780 hours annually.
- Total hourly wage per lecture hour including 150 min. general preparation: DKK 864.54 in basic amount (level 31 March 2012)

Conditions at the vocational schools
If you are employed as a teacher at a vocational school (erhvervsskole), you are covered by the collective agreement for academics.
- Salary: Your salary consists of a basic salary, pension and a salary supplement determined by seniority. The current amounts can be found in IDA's public salary tables. In addition, it is possible to agree on functional supplements and/or qualification supplements.
- Working hours: You are covered by § 13 of the academic agreement, which sets your weekly working hours at an average of 37 hours incl. lunch break. When you teach at a vocational school, you have a year standard (årsnorm). This means that your working hours are calculated on and any additional work is approved and reimbursed on an annual basis.

Conditions at high schools (gymnasier)
If you are employed as a teacher at a high school, you are either covered by the academic agreement or The Danish National Union of Upper Secondary School Teachers, GL’s, agreement.
It is your education that is decisive for which collective agreement you are covered by.
GL’s collective agreement
You are covered by this agreement if you have one of the following educations: cand.interpret., cand.ling.merc., cand.mag., cand.phil., cand.pæd., cand.scient., cand.stat ., cand.theol., dr.phil., dr.scient., lic.phil., lic.scient., mag.art., mag.scient. and cand.comm. with a supplementary subject from the natural sciences or humanities main area, as well as candidates with social studies as a supplementary subject.
The academics agreement
You are covered by the academic agreement if you do not have one of the above educations that are covered by the agreement of The Danish National Union of Upper Secondary School Teachers. However, the exception applies that supplements and overtime are granted in accordance with the rules in The GL’s agreement with the Ministry of Finance, just as the working time rules in Chapter 3 of the GL agreement are followed. "
Your salary consists of a basic salary, pension, tuition allowance and any function allowances and/or qualification allowances.
