Ever wonder what goes on in the head of an expert when they taste wine?
Making a judgement as to a wine’s quality is often the most important component of experts’ assessment. With how good wines around the world have become, confusing a New Zealand Chardonnay for a Burgundy can be forgivable - but confusing a bottom-shelf supermarket wine for a Grand Cru?
We will go beyond the basics of wine tasting, and demonstrate how experts evaluate wines in the real world. Through a holistic approach you will see how we can use the senses of smell and taste to make complex decisions such as vintage conditions, winemaking techniques, maturation potential, and commercial positioning.
There’s one more twist here, making this a truly unique tasting - we will take you on a journey through the prism of the Master of Wine exam, the most difficult wine exam in the world. The session will be presented by Dr Janice Wang DipWSET, the first person in Denmark to have passed it.
