The IMO legally binding framework, the Hong Kong International Convention for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships (Hong Kong Convention) is soon coming into force, it will require ships to verify their inventory of hazardous materials onboard. Also, the ship recycling yards will be required to provide a Ship Recycling Plan, to specify the way each individual ship will be recycled, depending on its particulars and its inventory.
Recycling of ships is by far the most environmental-friendly and economically sound way of getting rid of end-of-life ships, as becoming a sustainable source of materials for new production.
The session will have insightful presentations, providing a comprehensive overview of the ins and outs of ship recycling.
