More ships are likely to be build in Denmark in the coming years. Before the 90's Denmark was a mayor player in the shipbuilding industry. This evening, we will hear presentations from the relevant parts in the shipbuilding industries Yards & Consults.

New construction yards

Introduction: More ships are likely to be built in Denmark in the coming years. Until 2008 Denmark was a main player in the shipbuilding industry. Circumstances and society expectations have reestablished focus on shipbuilding

This evening, we will have presentations from the relevant parts of the shipbuilding industry and discuss the following questions.

  • How and where shall the ships be built?
  • Does Denmark still have the facilities and knowledge to build ships?
  • How new production technology may create opportunities

Program:

  • 17:00 - 17:05: Introduction and welcome, by Valdemar Ehlers, Danish Maritime.

  • 17:05 - 17:45: Robotization and digitalization to support shipbuilding operations in Denmark.
    The mission of SDU’s new Center for Large Structure Production (LSP) is to accelerate the industrial sectors maritime, energy and construction with robotization and digitalization. At the core of the LSP center at Odense Havn, a large robotic workspace will allow to research, develop, and innovate new automated production technologies. The presentation will describe the mission and the making of LSP as well as dive into its developments – with a special focus on shipbuilding. By Professor Christian Schlette University of Southern Denmark.

  • 17:45 - 18:00: Shipbuilding/yards from around the world By Morten Ladekarl ClassNK.

  • 18:00 - 18:30: Networking - Sandwich & refreshments

  • 18:30 - 19:10: A shipbuilder´s view. A presentation of current shipbuilding practices and perspectives for the future. By Director Kent Damgaard Karstensens Skibsværft.

  • 19:10 - 19:15: Round Up by Valdemar Ehlers, Danish Maritime.

The event is in collaboration with Danish Society for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
