BIRN er én af Nordeuropas største støberikoncerner med rødder, der går helt tilbage til 1896. Koncernen har hovedsæde i Holstebro og har datterselskaber i både Danmark, Sverige, Tyskland og Italien. 

Virksomheden har igennem de seneste årtier gået imod strømmen, og fastholdt produktionen i Danmark, hvor ca. 550 medarbejdere producerer støbejern til bl.a. automobil-, pumpe- og hydraulik-industrien. 

Kernekompetencerne hos BIRN omfatter alt fra udvikling, støbning og bearbejdning til overfladebehandling og montering. I maskinfabrikken, der er beliggende i forlængelse af støberiet, bearbejdes, males og overfladebehandles de støbte emner. Den højteknologiske maskinfabrik råder over en robust maskinpark med både fleksible og højvolumen produktionsceller, som fortsat udbygges.  

Besøget vil bestå af en rundvisning i produktionen samt et teknisk indlæg. Arrangementet afsluttes med en forfriskning og en sandwich.

BIRN is one of the largest foundaries in Northern Europe, with roots that date back to 1896. The BIRN group headquaters are placed in Holstebro and has companies in Denmark, Sweeden, Germany and Italy.    

During the past decades. the company has gone against the grain and kept production in Denmark, where approx. 550 employees produce castings mainly for the automobile-, pump- and hydrolic industries. 

The core comptences of BIRN include development, forging and processing, surface treatment and mounting. A high-tec factory has been constructed adjacent to the foundary, offering machining, coating and surface treatments of the cast goods. 

The visit will consist of a tour around the production and a technical presentation. Refreshments and a sandwich will be offered at the end of the visit.
