Vi fejrer 200-året for H.C. Ørsteds opdagelse af elektromagnetismen. De fleste kende til H.C. Ørsted og elektromagnetisme, men hvordan præcis gjorde Ørsted sin opdagelse, hvilket udstyr benyttede han og hvilke andre store bedrifter stod Ørsted også bag?

Vi starter med en guidet rundvisning i udstillingen ”H.C. ØRSTED ANEW – THE BEAUTY OF NATURE”. Her får vi mulighed for at se de instrumenter Ørsted benyttede i han arbejde. Udstillingen dækker 12 emner fra Ørsteds liv og virke. Se mere under ”Om udstillingen” herunder.

Efter en let beværtning vil Professor Emeritus ved Niels Bohr Instituttet, Helge Kragh, fortæller om Ørsteds betydning for videnskaben og det danske samfund.

Til alle de deltagere som ikke kan få nok af Ørsted, så suppleres aftenens rundvisning og foredrag af lidt litteratur til at tage med hjem. Det drejer sig om KVANT H.C. Ørsted og 200-året for elektromagnetismen (DK, 60 sider), samt Hans Christian Ørsted - the Unity of Spirit and Nature (EN, 179 sider).

We celebrate the 200th anniversary of H.C. Ørsted’s discovery of the electromagnetism. Most people know about H.C. Ørsted and the electromagnetism, but how exactly did he make the discovery, which equipment did he use, and which other great achievements did Ørsted father.

We begin with a guided tour of the exhibition ”H.C. ØRSTED ANEW – THE BEAUTY OF NATURE”. Here you will see the instruments used by Ørsted in his work. The exhibition covers 12 subjects from Ørsted’s life and work. More details under “Om udstillingen” below.

After a light drink, Professor Emeritus at Niels Bohr Instituttet, Helge Kragh, will tell us about Ørsted’s significance for science and the Danish society.

OM UDSTILLINGEN

Udstillingen foregår i Rundetårns smukke Bibliotekssal, hvor Universitetsbiblioteket lå i Ørsteds tid. Udstillingen folder sig ud i 12 temaer: Opdagelsen af elektromagnetismen, Aluminium – Ørsted som kemiker, Geomagnetisme og nordlys, Ørsted som farmaceut, Ørsteds natursyn og livsfilosofi, H.C. Ørsted og H.C. Andersen, Ørsted som formidler og organisator, Ørsted som sprogfornyer, Hæder og anerkendelse, Afledte forskningsaktiviteter og teknologiudvikling, Elektricitet i dag og Elektricitet i fremtiden. Hans mange nye ord binder udstillingen sammen, og det hele forankres i en ”H.C. Ørsted stue” med møbler og andre genstande fra hans hjem og laboratorium og en tidslinje med hans lange, aktive liv og opdagelser.

Blandt genstandene vises H.C. Ørsteds forsøgsopstilling og flere af hans apparater samt en række originalgenstande fra SNUs store samling af Ørsted effekter, som siden midten af 1980erne har været opbevaret på Teknisk Museum i Helsingør. Man vil også kunne se Ørsted-satellitten og høre om den betydning, Ørsteds forelæsninger i SNU fik for dansk ølbrygning.

The exhibition takes place in the Round Tower's beautiful Library Hall, where the University Library was located in Ørsted's time. The exhibition unfolds in 12 themes: The discovery of electromagnetism, Aluminium – Ørsted as a chemist, Geomagnetism and Northern Lights, Ørsted as a pharmacist, Ørsted's natural vision and philosophy of life, H.C. Ørsted and H.C. Andersen, Ørsted as mediator and organizer, Ørsted as a language renewal, Honour and recognition, Derivative research and technology development, Electricity today and Electricity in the future. His many new words bind the exhibition together, and it all is anchored in an "H.C. Ørsted living room" with furniture and other objects from his home and laboratory and a timeline of his long, active life and discoveries.

Among the objects are H.C. Ørsted's experimental installation and several of his appliances, as well as a number of original objects from the SNE's large collection of Ørsted effects, which since the mid-1980s have been stored at the Technical Museum in Elsinore. You will also be able to see the Ørsted satellite and hear about the importance Ørsted's lectures in SNU had for Danish beer brewing.
