Softening is done to protect the RO agaist scaling and traditional system is ion exchange where "hard" ions like Ca++ and Mg++ is replaced with Na+. The ion exchange resin needs regeneration which is done with a saturated NaCl (brine) solution. This result in a very salty waste water going to the sewers and waste water plant, where the microbiologic system suffers.
BioPureMax has come up with a technology called Electrolytic Scale Reduction (ESR), where they only use electricity to precipitate the "hard" ions and the waste is lime slurry, which can be used as farmland soil improment.
Sholomo Sackstein from BioPureMax will give us a presentation of the tecknology and all the other systems they have in the program for Pharmaceutical Water Production.
The presentation will be in english.
This is also the last meeting in 2024 for IDA LifeScience Clean Utility Group, so come and wish your peers a Merry Christmas and Happe New Year.
