Meaningful Careers: A co-creation workshop

Meaningful Careers: A co-creation workshop
Often, we look to our skills, or our education as a pointer for where to direct ourselves, career-wise. In this workshop, we will instead ask the question: which career would contribute to our sense of purpose in life, and our identity overall?

You are invited to join a half day workshop about designing a meaningful career. Often, we look to our skills, or our education as a pointer for where to direct ourselves, career-wise. In this workshop, we will instead ask the question: which career would contribute to our sense of purpose in life, and our identity overall?

This workshop is run as a co-creation session to explore the concept of ‘meaningful careers’. As a participant, you will help us explore the potential of using meaningfulness as a career parameter.

This workshop emerges from PhD research into “Designing for Meaningfulness” conducted by Vanessa Julia Carpenter, PhD and CEO of Kintsugi Design. Vanessa has been working in product development for the past 15 years, is an Advisory Board member to several companies, is a member of the Danish Design Awards Jury, and runs the Nordic Women in Hardware Network.

What is Designing for Meaningfulness?

Meaningfulness is framed in three ways: as people-to-people connections, as a person to their sense of self (identity) and a person in relation to time, who have they been, who are they now, and who do they want to be? Furthermore, it explores parameters such as significance, value, personal development, critical thinking, and more. You can read more about Designing for Meaningfulness at http://www.meaningfuldevices.com/

The workshop will be a series of hands-on activities wherein you explore your values, drive, and ultimately, purpose through a series of questions and worksheets.

This workshop is limited to 20 participants. As a participant in this workshop, you will be co-creating the future of career development within IDA.
