Keep your data private

Keep your data private
Privacy of user data on the Internet ensures users control over their information. However, commercial service providers may not handle user data responsibly. This event will showcase ways to build user-controlled privacy aware eco-systems.

Data privacy ensures that users have control over their private information. However, commercial service providers do not always handle user private data responsibly. In our data privacy-oriented research, we assume that many large companies will not always act responsively.

Somnath Mazumdar and his Norwegian collaborator are building ecosystems for end users, so that users can share data in a controlled way. To do that, we use multiple technologies such as blockchain, IoT, machine learning, and cloud/fog platform.

In recent years, our homes have become smarter and collect various types of private data. In this presentation. Somnath Mazumdar will present a framework, called Secure Entire Living Framework (SELF), which enforces a privacy-preserving data control mechanism by integrating multiple technologies.

Somnath will also present a generic blockchain-IoT-based self-sovereign identity management framework for smart home, utility, and health data management.

About Somnath Mazumdar: Somnath Mazumda is an Assistant Professor and holds a Ph.D. in Computing Systems from the University of Siena, Italy, and an MS in Distributed Computing from Polytech Nice Sophia Antipolis, France. His research interests focus on blockchain, cloud/fog/IoT platforms, and machine learning models to improve online data and code privacy during computation. He uses multiple technologies for distinct research and development stages. He was associated with multiple EU projects such as EPI, SafeClouds, MELODIC, AXIOM, and Teraflux. He was also associated with other national projects, such as ABCD (Danish) and MULE (Irish).

Apart from industry associations, before joining CBS, Somnath was also associated with Fraunhofer Society (Germany), Simula Research Laboratory (Norway), Ericsson Cloud Research Laboratory (Sweden), University College Dublin (PEL, Ireland), and INRIA Sophia Antipolis (France).
