To effectively communicate, we must
realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this
understanding as a guide to our communication with others. This workshop is the last one in a series of
three. They all focus on getting you ready to communicate effectively in the 21st
century. This workshop is about giving you some keys to understand and communicate
effectively in an increasingly complex global workplace.
Have you ever wondered why email you receive
from certain countries don’t answer your expectations? Why some of your foreign
colleagues sound distant or cold when you call them? Do you sometimes feel that
you ‘can’t get through to these people’?
The way we communicate is widely influenced by
cultural norms and may rub people the wrong way. Getting an understanding of
how different cultures make decisions, give feedback, build trust, and
communicate such preferences will help participants of the training work &
communicate more efficiently and harmoniously. Based on research from leading sociologists,
ethnologists and cross-cultural experts such as Geert Hofstede, Edward T. Hall,
Erin Meyer and Fons Trompenaars, we will introduce in a structured, serious yet
fun way some of the main differences. After this training, you will get clarity
on why you may prefer getting directions from your Danish colleague than your
Indian colleague or the other way around! Or why the decision-making process
takes longer in Sweden than in France or Germany. More importantly, you will
know how to get your message across and establish a relationship of trust
across numerous countries. As a Dane working with international people or
a non-Dane working in Denmark and/or in a global role, you want to understand
how culture influences how people work and communicate.
