Integration of AI in ship operations

Integration of AI in ship operations
IDA supports the UN's world goals

IDA wants to make visible the link to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This event covers, among other things, the above development goals. Read more about the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

We will explore how the maritime industry can use artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to optimize efficiency in ship operations

From autonomous navigation to predictive maintenance, AI is transforming shipping operations into smarter, safer, and more efficient processes optimizing route planning, fuel consumption, and vessel performance.

Learn more about how AI-driven insights can enhance decision-making and reduce operational costs. You will have an opportunity to engage with other industry leaders and AI pioneers sharing their strategies for seamless technology integration.

Also during the breaks and during the conference you can address other affiliated critical challenges like cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and workforce adaptation in this AI-powered era. AI has the potential to shape the future of shipping. Don’t miss the opportunity to navigate the next wave of innovation!

Program

17:00 – 17:05 Opening by organizers
by Peter Blach, Maskinmestrenes Forening and Frederik Berthelsen, DFDS

17:05 - 17:30 What is AI and how is it driving transformation at DFDS?
by Uriel Chareca, Head of AI, DFDS

Discover the fundamental concepts of AI and explore how DFDS is leveraging this cutting-edge technology to innovate and excel.  See real-world applications, gain insights into AI-driven strategies, and envision the future of AI at DFDS

17:30 - 18:00 Standards for functional safety and AI systems
by Peter Brown, Lloyd’s Register, Functional Safety and Systems Engineer, Technical Directorate

18:00 - 18:30 Refreshments

18:30 - 19:00 How are data and AI transforming vessel operations?
by Wärtsila (to be confirmed)

19:00 - 19:30 AI and skills in a technical ocean
by Jakob Langkjær and Niels Haastrup, Fredericia Maskinmester Skole (FMS)

We can get AI to analyze, process, report and react to data, but how can users gain a better understanding of the abstract nature of AI algorithms? Case examples from the maritime industry are given, for example on how the AI alarm system can be made, not to overburden the crew with messages.

19:30 - 19:45 Q&A and wrap-up
by Peter Blach, Maskinmestrenes Forening

The event is in collaboration with Danish Society for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
