Human Skills Workshop 4: Developing Conflict Management Skills

Human Skills Workshop 4: Developing Conflict Management Skills
How to improve your human skills is an important question to answer for your personal and career success. It is also a tough question to answer in general, as human skills encompass many different skills in self-management and people skills.

This series of 4 interactive workshops will be focusing on Human Skills. The workshops can be taken as a series (for more benefits) or as single ones. These are personal development workshops, whose benefits can be applied in business or personal life. Human skills are tools can defined by two general categories:

● Self-management skills – those we use to manage our emotions, self-perception, and reactions to unexpected situations.

● People skills – those we use to connect, understand, influence how others perceive us, our work, our ideas.

Human Skills Workshop 4: Developing Conflict Management Skills

Conflict management can be approached using a variety of different styles. While these styles may differ, every method utilizes the same management skills.

A lot of these skills are included in workshops 1-3 from the Human Skills for Engineers series, and in this workshop by IDA Young Professionals in collaboration Co-Active & Leadership Coach Migena Gjerazi we will look into Conflict Alignment skills and Nonviolent Communication. Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a process of communication created by psychologist

Marshall Rosenberg. It is a compilation of ideas about compassionate human behavior, packaged to meet the needs of modern times.

We have been through some of the skills that are required when managing a conflict, such as:

● Active Listening which focuses on being attentive to what the other person has to say.

● Emotional Intelligence which describes the ability to perceive and understand other peoples' emotions, as well as your own.

● Open communication

Your takeaways for this workshop will be:

● Learn and practice the principles of Nonviolent Communication

● Acquire tools on conflict management

● Enhancing skills such as patience, impartiality and positivity.

● Deepening self-awareness

● Maintain focus during difficult conversations

The workshop is interactive and experiential with a mix of theory and fun exercises and will be held in person in IDA’s offices.
