Human Skills Workshop 2: Developing Listening Skills

Human Skills Workshop 2: Developing Listening Skills
How to improve your human skills is an important question to answer for your personal and career success. It is also a tough question to answer in general, as human skills encompass many different skills in self-management and people skills.

This series of 4 interactive workshops will be focusing on Human Skills. The workshops can be taken as a series (for more benefits) or as single ones. These are personal development workshops, whose benefits can be applied in business or personal life. Human skills are tools can defined by two general categories:

● Self-management skills – those we use to manage our emotions, self-perception, and reactions to unexpected situations.

● People skills – those we use to connect, understand, influence how others perceive us, our work, our ideas.

Workshop 2: Developing Listening Skills

Being an active listener transforms conversations and relationships. Understanding is the goal of listening and that takes effort. Being an effective listener deepens connections and increases intimacy, be it privately or professionally. If you are only listening to jump in with an opinion, you are unlikely to make any kind of meaningful discussion.

This workshop by IDA Young Professionals in collaboration Co-Active & Leadership Coach Migena Gjerazi will take you through theory and practices to improve your listening skills not only when you interact with a person or a group, but also when being an observer and increasing your observation skills of the environment that surrounds you.

Your takeaways:

● Practice the three levels of listening

● Know the difference between hearing and listening

● Noticing the biases you have when you listen and interact with someone

● Learn how to reframe the messages you hear

● Enhance the skill of acknowledging

● Increase presence and mindfulness

The workshop is interactive and experiential with a mix of theory and fun exercises and will be held in person in IDA’s offices.
