What is Git and Why Does it Matter? 

Git is the backbone of popular version control platforms like GitHub and GitLab, making it essential for managing code, tracking
changes, and collaborating effectively on code. Originally built for developers, Git is now a must-have tool for anyone working in tech or data science who wants to stay organized and work seamlessly with teams.  

What You’ll Learn:

• Git Basics & What’s Under the Hood: Understand how Git
  works and why it’s so powerful.  
• Command Line Confidence: Perform essential tasks like
  commits, branches, and merges directly in the terminal.  
• Collaborative Workflows: Learn practical skills for managing
  projects and working with tech teams.  

Led by Charlotte Møller, an experienced data engineer, this session is all about making Git approachable and practical through real-world exercises. Plus, you’ll have a great time networking, chilling over coffee and tea, and learning Git in a relaxed, supportive environment.  

This is a fully hands-on session, so you’ll bring your laptop with Git installed and actively work through exercises designed to help you apply what you learn right away. By the end, you’ll walk away with a solid understanding of Git's fundamentals and the confidence to use it in your day-to-day work.
