Cover letter – do’s and don’ts

Your first step towards a job is to slip through the needle eye of being called to an interview.

It takes an application, that stands out and one that is targeted the specific job. The challenge is that your application must be concrete and personal. This require you to spend time on research, because most often the job post doesn’t give you enough information to work with.

During this workshop you’ll get concrete tips and knowledge about how to write a good application and on what information you should be looking for.

The workshop will be facilitated by career adviser Sanne Mattebjerg, and it will be a mixture of instructions and exercises based on your own material. There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Sanne will not give individual feedback on applications.

Prepare and get most out of it
You will gain most from the workshop if you prepare. So please do the following:

  • Find a relevant job add
  • Analyze the job add:
    • Mark things you can do with green
    • Mark things you can’t do with red
    • Mark things you don’t know what is or is unclear with yellow
    • Convert yellow elements into questions and call and ask the company. You can also ask them which task you should spend most time doing/what a normal day looks like and which professional skills, the value the most.

Please bring your computer.

If you have signed up for the workshop, but are unable to attend, please remember to cancel so someone else can get your seat. If you don’t attend and haven’t cancelled, we will charge you with a no-show fee.

There will be breakfast from 8:45 and coffee and tea during the whole workshop.
