The test centre in Østerild was established to give manufacturers of large wind turbines the opportunity to test and document their technology under realistic conditions. The centre plays a central role in the green transition and in the development of future energy solutions. Some of the world’s largest and most advanced wind turbines are tested here, and the area has become an important hub for innovation and technological development within renewable energy.
The test centre is operated by DTU and collaborates with both Danish and international companies. The aim is to ensure that new turbine types meet the requirements for efficiency, safety, and environmental considerations before being put into commercial operation. Østerild is also an example of how research and industry can go hand in hand to promote sustainable solutions.
