Technomania: The future is not accidental – The Index Project

How can we develop a fundamentally new type of nuclear reactor making nuclear power both safe, sustainable and cheap? How can we prevent overfishing using LED light? How can you feed a rapidly growing population producing food out of thin air? These are some of the questions we will touch upon in this session. We will give examples of solutions and we will discuss how design is a crucial driver for innovation and sustainable solutions to the worlds pressing challenges.
Who are we? The Index Project hands out the world’s biggest design award – the Index Award - celebrating people, from far and wide, who are using design to solve the problems that matter. Plastic pollution, gender inequality, food supply — you name it. Since 2005, The index project has recognized some of the world’s most impactful and iconic solutions. From tiny tools to diagnose diseases to environmental moonshots saving our most vulnerable eco-systems.
On the stage:
Liza Chong is CEO of the Danish organization The index project. Liza joined the Index team back in 2009 to pen the first official strategy and has supported in fundraising and partnership initiatives that have taken The Index Project overseas to the Nordics, Asia and the US. Most recently, she established our first global micro-VC fund to invest solely into the pipeline of The Index Award.
Ask Løvschall-Jensen is the a co-founder and COO of the fast growing Danish start-up Seaborg Technologies ApS. Ask has a PhD in experimental physicist from CERN and a career as an AI and ML expert. He has led several larger ML and data projects at Danish Broadcasting, DR Audience research, the Danish Business Authority and Vertical Strategy before dedicating all of his time to developing sustainable nuclear power and he’s been part of the journey since the company was still three men on a raft to being more than 20 and hiring.
