If you and your family are interested in technology, you should explore railway history at the Danish Railway Museum. As a member of IDA you receive a discount on tickets.
The museum is situated in central Odense, right next to the station, in an authentic engine shed built in 1954. You can discover the history of the Danish railways at close quarters. The museum has 21 tracks with iconic locomotives and carriages. Take a peek inside the royal carriages, explore life in first class, and visit Denmark's oldest, preserved steam locomotive from 1868. There is access to lots of the museum’s locomotives and carriages. You can sit on the wooden seats in the double-decker Klampenborg carriage, stand in the driver's cab of a 1954 steam locomotive, step into a post office sorting carriage, and much more.
The huge locomotives fascinate children of all ages. You can explore the museum’s many carriages and locomotives – touch them and play on them. Our youngest visitors will love Children’s Station – a child-sized train station. There is a large ‘play and learn’ area outside, with an enormous steam locomotive and a water tower you can use as a slide. Our popular miniature train runs every day, too – either inside or out. All activities are free of charge once you have paid admission.
Download IDA’s app from Google Play or the App Store.
Show your membership card (which is in the app) at the museum’s ticket office to receive your 25% discount on admission.
The discount is for a maximum of two adults and three children (5 to 17 years of age). Admission for children under the age of five is always free of charge.
